Resist Violence

Educate and Empower the Community

At ICWIN, we believe that combating gender-based violence requires collective knowledge, reflection, dialogue, and action.

Our Goals:

  • Building knowledge about our rights
  • Fostering dialogue for deeper understanding
  • Encouraging reflection for empowerment
  • Inspiring peaceful solutions

Global Context

In countries around the world, women and girls experience acts of violence ranging from online harassment to domestic assault and human trafficking. One in three women still experiences physical or sexual violence, often at the hands of a partner. Violence against women is both a cause and consequence of gender inequality - and a serious global epidemic.
These abuses are among the most pervasive human rights violations today. Domestic violence is one of the least prosecuted crimes and one of the greatest threats to lasting peace and development.

Our Commitment

We, as members and friends of ICWIN, are committed to ending violence against women - not only in the Iranian diaspora, but in solidarity with women from all communities and all walks of life, regardless of race, class, sexual identity, religion, or legal status.
Violence against women in private and public spheres - at work, in the community, online, or at home - must not be tolerated. Once is too many.

Types of Violence

Violence can take many forms: physical, verbal, emotional, sexual, economic, and cyber abuse. It can be visible or hidden, individual or systemic. But all violence stems from the same roots, power, control, and inequality.

Domestic Violence Awareness Handbook- Farsi

This booklet is a translated version of the City of Los Angeles Domestic Violence Awareness Handbook, created to bridge cultural and language gaps for the Iranian community.

It offers vital information on recognizing signs of abuse, safety planning, legal rights, and support resources—empowering Persian-speaking individuals to seek help and stay safe.
